Safety Training

Sterett Crane and Rigging has always strived to stay ahead of the game when it comes to safety training. Outside of the basic annual safety training conducted by Sterett’s Safety Director we have additional training that we engage in to ensure the safety of our workforce, our customers, and the general public.

All Sterett Crane employees are required to complete the following: ARSC (Association of Reciprocal Safety Councils) safety training at the University of Southern Indiana, Transportation Worker Identification Cards (TWIC) credentials, as well as OSHA 10 hour and MSHA 8 hour training with annual recertification. Our operators are required to have the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators certification. All Sterett employees are also Qualified Riggers and Signalpersons.

Sterett Crane and Rigging also has a strict drug testing program and policy in place. All Sterett employees are tested randomly, post-accident, pre-hire, and under reasonable suspicion, with return to duty and follow-up screenings. Sterett employees are routinely tested prior to critical lifts. In addition to Sterett’s drug testing policy our employees also fall under the testing policy of many of our clients’ programs, which increases the frequency and varies guidelines under which they are tested.

Lastly, Sterett Crane & Rigging partakes in third party auditing services, such as: ISNetworld, a global resource for connecting corporations with safe, reliable contractors in capital-intensive industries; PICS, a renowned contractor pre-qualification company with a focus on safety; the Metro Indianapolis Coalition for Construction Safety, Inc (MICCS), a service dedicated to the elimination of construction and facilities maintenance job site injuries and illnesses; BROWZ, an established resource used to evaluate insurance, safety performance, security and other risk criteria.
